Multiplayer online game developer Linden Lab Second Life. Doug Soo Linden Lab Programmer who helped with the design of the game Second Life.
Host: John Furrier, Founder of PodTech.net
This is a cool game that has a built in open source development model into the action. That’s right players can develop apps and products inside the game. Second Life’s dynamic nature in my opinion will shape the future of gaming and the future of work and possibly education. This is the model of the future.
Correction from Douglas Soo….He says “I’m one of the developers, but not specifically the designer, I assisted in design of Second Life, like most of the other developers, but Philip (the CEO of Linden Lab) is the founder and driver of most of its ideas and core concepts. I guess I never got around to explaining it in the podcast, but currently Second Life is 18 and over only, because some the content created by our residents is more mature and not appropriate for children. We are currently working on making Second Life available for 13-17 year olds as well - I believe that given the requirements of COPA it would be difficult or impossible for us to make it available to younger children, unfortunately.”
Thanks for the update
