The release of Sony’s next-gen gaming console, Playstation 3, has been pushed back to March 2007 in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa and Australasia. The PS3 was previously scheduled to launch worldwide in November. PodTech’s Rio Pesino talked with Creative Strategies Research Analyst Tim Bajarin about the impact this news will have on the video game market.
Reporter’s Notes: Gamers in the United States and Japan have also been affected by Sony’s decision. The company also announced that it is limiting its launch to those countries. Microsoft and Nintendo will benefit from Sony’s decision, since it leaves the door wide open for them to gain market share in Europe. The big losers in the whole ordeal have got to be European gamers, who won’t be able to get their hands on a shiny new PS3 until next year.
