Well everyone, welcome to a new PodTech.net! It’s been a hectic few months, could you tell? We’ve been building out a platform to support video. Robert Scoble joined our team. We’ve been reorganizing our content. We hired a bunch of new people, including reporters in LA, Boston, amazing engineers, video editors and producers, marketing peeps, and even some “executives”.
We’re really happy with this new update of PodTech.net, and it’s just a beginning. You’ll see many more changes to the UI and features, not to mention more homegrown PodTech shows as well as content partnerships that are in the works.
We’re trying to push the boundaries of video. We’re trying to set a standard in how companies tell their stories. We’re trying to bring you consistently authentic voices and stories that you won’t get anywhere else. And we’re having a great time doing it.
All this is happening at a time when the media industry is rapidly changing – it’s a world of new players. People want content, good content, when they want it, where they want it, and how they want it. Media today is multimedia. It’s more. It’s more than just text. It’s audio and video. We’re all about telling stories you can’t see or hear anywhere else, anytime you want – on your PC or portable device.
We hope you like the direction we’re heading in, and we especially hope you enjoy the ScobleShow, PodTech News, and other great shows coming out of tech and media. We really look forward to your feedback.
So check out PodTech.net, PodTech News, and ScobleShow. Let us know what you think! Huge thanks to everyone who has been working so hard to help us get here. And there will be more updates soon, including, yes, my own show. I’ll be back.

I really like the new site and direction. The site loads slow but I love all the content that you guys are developing.

[…] I posted on PodTech blog about the new site redesign and the launch of the ScobleShow (example interview with Thomas Hawk). We’ve been pushing out so much content that we needed to make a major change to improve on the UI. This is just the first step toward getting a easy to use interface to enjoy podcasts and now videopodcasts/videoblogs… […]

Sounds great. But…
What happened to the PodTech News, Event, corporate and InfoTalk channels? My feeds are screwed.
September 26th, 2006 at 10:31 pm
Joe, we’re moving the feeds around. Sorry for the troubles, we’ve broken a few things and the engineers are working to get them back up and running again.

What have you done to the site? I go on vacation for a week come back and you guys have rearranged my living room.
Don´t you listen to Nielsen and Spool podcasts or read their blogs? The “Relaunch” as concept is dead… no one does this to their customers anymore, it hurts!!
The efficient column structure and IA is gone. The embedded podcast streams are gone… back to lousy pop ups. Checked out YouTube lately for how to present video in a user friendly manner? Was this the only way to integrate the Scobleshow into the IA? I don´t think so.
I percieve no benefit for me and if I was paying for this I´d cancel my subscription now. Why have you done this?
Yours, totally disappointed in Germany
P.S. Podtechs NPI has just sunk by one person

Robert,
The readability of your site would be much improved with 5 or 10 pixels of whitespace along your left margin as well as between your header and body.
Regards,
Doug

Mark: interesting. Whenever you do a new design lots of people are both happy and disappointed. Sorry for disappointing you. To my eyes this is a lot easier to read and figure out what’s new. It does need some work, though, so keep watching.
The popups for videos work better with Quicktime, which is the format we picked. YouTube uses Flash. We’re evaluating other media types and will try to improve the process.

I now have 4-5 PodTech feeds, not sure, which to keep and which to kill…this change has messed things up.

Thanks Scoble. Hope things will be fixed.
I think it was better as it was better before with one channel for Corporate, one for News, One for Events and so on. Now you either have to subscribe to the “All feed” or 50 different feeds.

Looks like you guys (and gals) have been working overtime again. Congrats on the new look and feel — it is much improved!

What would it take for someone to notice a small person, who is trying to make it out there, for the Video Editor position? My husband is the most honest, modest and humble person I’ve ever met; yet, he gets won over and over again by BS kings. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Robert: I know that as many customers are happy with the relaunch as those that are not. It´s just that I´m not.
OK, OK I´ll adjust and get used to it, (which is again the norm) what other choice do I have.
One thing I´d like to point out though, the article leaders are taking up more space and I find I´m scrolling a lot more than before. It simply felt more efficient before.
P.S. I´m still subscribing the feeds
