SAN FRANCISCO, September 29, 2006 (PodTech News) - Digg Founders Jay Adelson and Kevin Rose have taken their underground, hacker-chic Internet television network, Revision3, out of the garage and into its first round of funding. They celebrated the formal launch of Revision3 September 26th at a club in San Francisco. The network hosts eleven edgy, technology-centered programs, with Rose and co-host Alex Albrecht’s Diggnation as the flagship. Revision3 has a loyal audience and over 1.5 million downloads per month — but can it grow? Will it last? PodTech’s Catherine Girardeau went over to Digg headquarters to talk with Revision3 (and Digg) CEO Jay Adelson and Production Director David Prager.
REPORTER’S NOTES: During our inteview, Jay Adelson got a call on his cellphone from Al Gore, and was out in the hall for 20 minutes. Is a new content deal in the works? Does Al want to place some campaign ads for the Democrats? Stay tuned! For some basics on Internet television from a marketing perspective, check this out, from Silicon .com. Find out what Cranky Geeks have to say about Revision3.

Great Show!! I agree with Jay that IPTV, or whatever it’s called, has potential to be much larger than TV. If they produce the content regularly the viewers will come.

It’s important to remember the difference between on-demand and ‘all at once’ (usually live) content. IPTV is great for on demand content, but broadcast media (television or someday multicast IP) are more appropriate tools.
