Harvard Law Students Get a Second Life

BOSTON, October 6, 2006 (PodTech News) - Harvard Law School is experimenting this semester with a course taught partly in the real world and partly in the virtual 3D world Second Life. The class, called CyberOne: Law in the Court of Public Opinion, is open not just to Harvard students, but to the general public as well. PodTech’s Clark Boyd catches up with the course’s professors to find out more.

Reporter’s Notes: I first heard about this course a few weeks back, and I actually toyed with the idea of taking it myself. In the end, I decided to do it as a story for PodTech instead. Charles Nesson teaches the course, along with his daughter Rebecca. I’m impressed by the openness that Harvard is showing on this. Of course, for real academic openness, check out MIT’s OpenCourseWare program. And I’m not just saying that because I’m taking courses at MIT. Honestly.
