Sandeep Murthy is CEO of cleartrip.com, an online travel portal located in Mumbai, India.
It came out of its stealth mode a few months ago, when it also announced that it received a new round of funding from Kleiner Perkin Caufield & Byers and Sherpalo Ventures.
In this interview, we talk to Sandeep about cleartrip, its market segment and the overcrowded online travel business in India. One of the characteristics of the travel and hotel industry in India is that it is fragmented. We talk to Sandeep to find out what it takes to do business in such fragmented markets.
Cleartrip.com is focussed on the domestic travel and hotel sector in India. The company has partnered with Lonely Planet to provide content to its online visitors. Sandeep is bullish about his company and the online travel and hotel sector in India.
