Cisco yesterday announced the TelePresence 3000 but last week Robert Scoble got to attend a demo of the system with his camera. This is a new kind of videoconferencing room, one where you feel you’re actually in the same room with the remote participants. It’s the kind of thing you’ve got to experience to understand.

[…] He also advocated “conversational” reporting, and used as an example a 32-minute reality-TV style video he took of a press conference/demo for Cisco’s new TelePresence high-end ($300K) teleconferencing technology. Many at the conference, myself included, felt that few people would sit through 32 minutes of anything, but Scoble feels the unedited video is more authentic than a “produced” corporate video. […]

Thanks a lot for this one.. I think it is a great video!
Though I’m sure people will be able to setup nearly as good telepresence with a PS3, a 1500$ 42″ 1080p LCD and a 100$ HD usb Webcam.. Probably also that Cisco is going to launch consumer HD videoconferencing solutions soon through Linksys and built-in with their KiSS-Technology HD video Sigma designs integration.. Just add a HD video encoding DSP in the KiSS box and Cisco will have a consumer solution that’s even half the price probably than a PS3.
Cause really, it’s gonna be awesome to have HD telepresence in the living room to simply meet family and talk like this in the sofa.. A normal internet broadband connection and cheap Full HD LCD screens and hopefully has little enough lag-time so this will be nearly realtime.

[…] Indepth Look at the Zune Looks as though PodTech (Robert Scoble anyone?) sat down with Matt Jubelirer, product manager of the Zune program and got a 40 minute video out of it. The video runs through the Zune in detail and really gives a nice overview of Microsoft’s answer to the iPod.
