SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 30, 2006 (PodTech News) — Zero to 60 in 3.9 seconds, at a fuel cost of less than a penny per mile. Sound too good to be true? It gets better — the dream car we’re talking about is a zero-emissions sports car that runs on the kind of battery technology most of us have in our cell phones. Seven-thousand lithium-ion cells power the Tesla Roadster, a sexy electric two-seater due on the roads in model year 2007. Martin Eberhard is CEO and visionary behind San Carlos-based Tesla Motors. He spoke with PodTech’s Catherine Girardeau at the Women in Technology conference.

Martin’s my hero. He recently came to talk at Yahoo! and brought his shiny red car. You’d have thought a naked woman was in our parking lot. I just posted a video interview with did with him on our corporate blog (scroll to the bottom). Good news is they’re releasing a sport sedan in 2009 for less than $50K. I’m saving up for a garage.
