VC investments show no signs of slowing down in India. Two companies - Carzonrent India and Tejas Networks received funding in the past week.
It’s just not IT and services companies that are in investor’s radar - hospitality and travel sector in India have also received a fair chunk of VC funding. US-based Starwood Capital announced that it will invest about $300 million in India spread over the next 18 months.
In merger and acquisition news, TCS continues with its acquisition spree. Last week TCS announced that it has acquired an Australian company. TCS also landed a multi-million outsourcing deal from Australian airline Qantas. This is supposed to be the single largest IT deal bagged by an Indian IT company in Australia.
NVIDIA recently announced the launch of a Digital Bollywood Initiative to tap into Bollywood, the Hindi film industry located in Mumbai. The initiative, called “Digital Bollywood,” couples NVIDIA technologies with industry expertise from around the world to help enable India as a Digital Content Creation powerhouse.
Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer was in India last week. He found time amidst his packed schedule to meet a Bollywood film personality and a cricketer.
Yahoo! Inc. announced Pranesh Anthapur as their new COO and Pete Deemer as the Chief Product Officer of Yahoo! India Research and Development, Bangalore, India.
