Rishi Navani is the founding managing director of Matrix Partners, India. Rishi has been involved in the Indian investment space for about 10 years and has seen the investment landscape in India undergo a dramatic change in the last few quarters.
Matrix Partners has a $150 million fund and it recently made its first investment of $7 million in Seventymm, an Indian online movie rental start-up.
Rishi shares his views on where the investment opportunities exist in India, and he also broadly identifies sectors that offer high growth. He firmly believes that local markets offer a lot of potential for Indian start-ups. He also talks about Matrix Partners’ investment in Seventymm, and the potential for online movie rental in India.
Prior to Matrix Partners, Rishi was managing director at Sequoia Capital India.
Rishi has a BA from Northwestern University and an MBA degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received the Ford Fellowship Award as the top-ranked first-year student. He is a member of the Mumbai chapter of YEO.
