While many Americans are thinking about going green by buying smaller cars, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety cautions motorists that real-life crash test results show any car that’s very small and light isn’t the best safety choice when there are large SUV’s on the roadways. The Institute just released it’s first side impact crash-test results on sub-compact cars with mixed results. I spoke with Russ Rader, the Institute’s director of media relations, about its first crash-test ratings of mini-cars, and what the results mean to consumers.
