The IPO season is underway in India. Media company Global Broadcast News, which operates CNN and other news channels, went IPO earlier this week. It listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange.
Bangalore-based MindTree Consulting is going IPO on the Indian stock exchange. Idea Cellular, India’s sixth-largest mobile operator, is also gearing up to go IPO. The company is also planning to relocate to Mumbai from Pune.
EMC Corporation has acquired Hyderabad-based Valyd Software Private Limited for an undisclosed amount. Britain’s BT Group PLC, has agreed to buy i2i Enterprise Pvt Ltd for an undisclosed amount.
Moser Baer has acquired a majority stake in OM&T, the R&D arm of Philips.
The deadline to receive the bid for Hutch-Essar expires today. Vodafone, Reliance Communications and the Hindujas have submitted their bids. Hutchison Whampoa, the Hong Kong-based telecom company that holds the controlling stake, wants to hold an open auction.
Verizon Communications has partnered with an Indian company and applied for long distance telephony license in India.
Camera phones are fast replacing digital cameras according to one report. Earlier this week Motvik, a new mobile media start-up, came out of its stealth mode and released the alpha version of its product WWIGO, which means “Webcam Where I Go.”
24/7 Customer recently announced the appointment of Renee Kuwahara as their chief operating officer and co-founder Mr. S Nagarajan as their chief people officer.
Arumugam Saravanan has joined EMC as their R&D head in Bangalore.
The sixth aero show is currently underway in Bangalore. Ratan Tata became the first civilian to fly Lockheed Martin’s fighter jets: the F-16 also known as Falcon and the F-18 Super Hornet.
Mint, a new business paper that’s a joint venture between Hindustan Times and The Wall Street Journal, launched in the capital recently.
