While at the Chicago Auto Show, I had the opportunity to speak with Chevrolet General Manager Ed Peper about the promise of the new Chevy Volt and the beauty and styling of the new 2009 Camaro, among other things. Our conversation included questions submitted by participants from a Yahoo Volt discussion group that I’ve joined. My thanks to Ed for agreeing to the interview, (despite having suffered a leg injury and being on crutches) and to the Volt discussion group members who entrusted me to present their questions to GM.
Reporter’s Notes: My thanks to General Motors for inviting us to cover the Chicago Auto Show. They paid for our flight, meals and accomodations, plus provided access to high level spokespeople, engineers and designers for interviews, yet required no restrictions, review or edit control of our content prior to publishing.

Hey Matt, the Camaro looks awesome - like it’s staring you down!
Good feedback on the Volt. Thanks for presenting our questions once again. Hopefully, the continued show of interest will keep them motivated and convinced of what the public is looking for. I need a solution for my daily commute and the Volt is it, with style.
Clearly, Ed is correct about the need for mass market competitive pricing for the Volt. We need a breakthrough on the batteries. I wish the government would invest more on this critical research.

Flex fuel option is a nice touch.
I’d have liked a little better hint at the price range….$40k is too high…Top around $32k fully loaded is probably a better target.
I’d have liked to know if a 4-door version will be under consideration as well to accomodate a family.

On second look, I guess it is a 4-door…good

Hi New-I agree–when you look at the Camaro just right, it looks like it has a sly grin and is saying something like “I’ve got a secret.”
I was happy to have been able to be a conduit for questions about the Volt to GM management–thanks for the trust.
