This month marks the six-month anniversary of the Department of Homeland Security establishing the post of Assistant Secretary for Cyber Security and Telecommunications. Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff named former Information Technology Association of America executive Greg Garcia to the post.
Garcia recently outlined his agenda at this year’s RSA Conference. And while it would be unfair to grade or judge his performance after only six months on the job, I decided to develop a series of interviews with information security experts to find out what they would do if tomorrow they found themselves in the position of national cyber security czar.
In this first installment, I talk with Chris Fountain, the CEO of SecureInfo Corp., and Jeff Waters, the director of government solutions at Securify Inc.
Stay tuned for more of these interviews this month. Maybe I’ll even land one with Mr. Garcia himself, and he can tell us what he’s actually doing as the nation’s cyber security czar.
