One of my newest heroes is John Q. McMillan, a gentleman from Tennessee, who, along with his business partner Xander Carey and a group of Canadian investors, has designed a “purpose-built” electric car, the Predator, an efficient, three passenger, electric car built by their company, Shockwave Motors. It’s a personal transportation vehicle that is an innovative combination of the best of today’s technology; sleek, aerodynamic styling and conventional, lead-acid, traction batteries. The car is the 2nd generation vehicle for John, an evolution from the EV Defiant, a two-seater roadster with a range of 100 miles, capable of 100mpg fuel efficiency and speeds up to 75 mph. John has been an energy enthusiast from an early age, when he converted his go-cart to an electric car, and his passion began. He’s converted several street-legal vehicles, and has even lived off the electric grid for over 14 years. Now he’s bringing an electric vehicle from prototype to market at a price under $20k. Look for it to be available in late summer.
