Developing the Right Business Case

A Business Case is a structured proposal for business change that is justified in terms of risk-adjusted costs and benefits. The objective is to request and secure funding for the project. It’s a living document and will be reviewed throughout the project lifecycle and so at the initiation of the project a ‘Go’ or ‘No Go’ decision must be made ensuring that at the end of each phase the business need still exists and that the project is on track to deliver.

To develop the business case, BearingPoint details any alternatives under consideration and compares each option’s advantages and disadvantages. In addition, a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) is performed to detail the impact of the project on the organization and its customers.
