Manish Arora is the founder of Kincafe, a Silicon Valley-based social networking and Web 2.0 company. Kincafe is focused on connecting and cherishing your family connections by sharing photos, videos and other files in a secure environment. I caught up with Manish at TiECon 2007, where we spoke about Kincafe and the new face of entrepreneurship. Manish has self-funded the company and in fact planned his transition to becoming an entrepreneur in a systematic manner. What helped Manish become an entrepreneur was his father’s advice that he start a business with his own money. Manish is a third-generation entrepreneur.

I’m starting to really get value out of Kamla Bhatt’s interviews. She really drills her guest with probing questions. Although I think that Kincafe has an interesting business plan, I find it hard to see how it will compete with the Youtube’s and Flickr’s of the world. I mean you would really have to have a committed development team to even begin to match SOME of the functionality of the industry leaders. However, Manish Arora is very well spoken and sounds like a pretty committed individual so I would like him to prove me wrong.

Thanks Shannon for your encouraging feedback.
I did ask Manish about YouTube and how they are different from it. I guess we will have to wait and watch and see what other new features Kincafe comes up with and how they will differentiate their offering.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
