Roz Savage successfully rowed the Atlantic solo in 2006 and now looks to become the first woman to row solo across the Pacific Ocean. David Helvarg of the Blue Frontier Campaign introduces Roz to begin the ceremony from the Presidio Yacht Club at Fort Baker, Calif. Valerie Cunningham speaks with Roz about her podcasting and satellite link up as she stays in contact while crossing the Pacific Ocean. Eric Sanford, Editor at Large, World Publications, is Roz’s partner, and he introduces the solar power panels which provide current to navigation, laptop and communication equipment, the water desalination machine and on-board cameras. Also, Roz (Ocean Rower, Speaker and Writer) speaks about the inspiration for becoming more involved with the environment and her mixed feelings about the giant patch of garbage and debris that has grown in the middle of the Pacific.
Roz’s voyage is sponsored by Brocade, a leading network storage solutions company. See more about Brocade’s environmental and energy saving business values here.
