A fascinating interview with an industry veteran who’s leading a truly innovating way to send and receive money between people. Obopay is poised to gain momentum, especially with its recent partnership with Verizon and Citibank. It’s also claiming the space once held by Western Union of transferring money internationally and between relatives. The big difference between Obopay and others is cost, speed, and ease of use. Now if only it creates an Obopay widget that could be leveraged within social network sites such as Facebook, lowering the bar for adoption by creating a mental model for P2P that’s easy to digest. Unlike PayPal, which is targeted primarily for merchants (eBay more specifically), Obopay is people-friendly, and more like an e-wallet than a bank.
