Investors such as Jay MacDonald and Bill Detwiler are bullish on web-based advertising. MacDonald says advertisers have always wanted to know exactly who listened to their ads on radio or saw them in magazines. You cannot click on a newspaper ad. But with features like interactivity and social media that add value to online adverts, the Internet promises to increase the effectiveness of messages.
