Nonprofit organizations need volunteers and volunteers need opportunities tuned to their interests. VolunteerMatch is a platform that has been making these connections since 1998. With over 50,000 organizations participating, VolunteerMatch has something for everyone. I had lunch with Greg Baldwin, president of VolunteerMatch, who gives me a rundown of the organization’s history, describes the benefits for non-profit and corporate partners as well as taking me on a tour of the site from a potential volunteer’s perspective.

It’s amazing how technology has changed how people do things today.
In the old days, finding a place to volunteer would have been based on word-of-mouth, or what the boss said to do, or what your parents did.
This is the Web at its best: giving people a way to find something that suit their own needs, time and interest.
Hat off to VolunteerMatch for making it easy to give back. I’m sure lots of nonprofits are saying the same thing.
