I couldn’t quite understand why Scoble interviewed Jackie. It was more a meeting of two people who talk to two different audiences…and yet both provided no insight or conclusive message.
I also found Jackie’s repeated assertions such as 165 CEO’s 56 CIO’s annoying. It felt like name dropping..I am so important because I talk to these people.
Scoble…when you do a show like this ask your guests to summarize what their real message is at the end.

I thought this interview was excellent and very helpful to me.
I run two Executives Clubs and I think her message about CEOs and CIOs developing closer and more productive relationships for the good of the business is right on. They need to be educated on industry trends and the benefits to apply from them when their calendars rarely allow the time to learn about them.
It is hard to get CIO and other Senior IT Executives in my circles to consider change. Why? Often the companies who could benefit most from the change are healthy ones whose IT Execs take the perspective “if it’s not broke don’t fix it”. The result many times means that Business Units can’t get the IT improvements they need which are available.
Most CIOs make implementation and purchasing decisions based upon avoiding risk. While they realize that profitability is key they also realize that being successful to retain their jobs is their #1 priority. It’s been said that a CIOs tenure in the Fortune 1000 on average is less than three years! So linking their work to profitability is often difficult but its importance is paramount.

I feel that Jackie oversimplified the relationships between CEO’s and other C-level officers. Her assertion that you can interchange CIO for CSO is completely wrong. She tries to come off as an expert and uses the statistic that CIO’s have “x” attrition but then can’t answer why it’s at that rate. I’m not convinced that she answered any question that I had nor did she provide information that I didn’t already know.
