Prof. Tapan Parikh is a teacher, an innovator and a social entrepreneur, who currently teaches at the University of California, Berkeley. He was recently named as the Humanitarian of the Year by MIT’s Tech Review. While at graduate school in Seattle, Tapan took some time off and travelled to India, where he worked with various NGOs and ended up co-founding EkGaon Technologies.
Tapan’s focus is to create simple, innovative solutions that can be used in countries like India, Mexico and others. He created a simple, effective solution called CAM by harnessing the power of the ubiquitous camera phone. CAM allows users to scan and store information through a voice prompt and has proved to be effective solution for small organizations in India and other countries.
