How is human computer interaction different in emerging economies like India? Prof John Canny of UC Berkeley discusses some of the projects that he had his colleagues are working in India using mobile phone for real time video and location based services (LBS). John talks at length about LBS and the how maps are one of the hardest things for people to understand in emerging economies like India. How then do you address this issue of map reading? What do you do when you can’t use the western style of presentation?
