Las Vegas, NV, April 6, 2006 (PodTech News) – MTV Networks says it has become the largest content provider for mobile phones. The president of the company, Van Toffler, says MTV and its properties streamed more than 2 million videos on Verizon’s Vcast service in March. “The mobile handset is the holy grail of devices,” Toffler said in his keynote speech at the CTIA Wireless 2006 trade show in Las Vegas. “While global youth spend $6 billion on music, they spend $106 billion on mobile.” Part 1 of a 2 part series.

Its a good insight into the new media world. My only question still remains the adaptibility to small screens. Also, the fact if our target group is youth then, the prices of high end video enabled phones have to be reduced for the youth to buy them. Compelling content is definitely a must and these handsets have become a statement among the youth. Its more like selling attitude to them, this can happen only with the co-operation of the mobile hanset manufacturers. A good user experience is key to popularise this platform. The government in many countries is in control of the bandwidth which needs to be released for better quality and good user experience.
