“The Future of Pinball” is a film that documents Williams’ plan to recreate the pinball machine and revive a dying industry. PodTech’s Rio Pesino spoke with Greg Maletic, who is the producer, writer and director of the documentary, about the challenges the world’s largest pinball manufacturer faced in designing a new pinball machine, the introduction of Pinball 2000 and what contributed to Williams’ decision to ultimately shut down its pinball business.Official film website:

Greg has done a fabulous job in the production of this documentary. Interviews, tech related info and a blend of sassy 50’s style art backgrounds and smooth music make this an enjoyable DVD. Well done. 5 *****’s and the extra DVD bonus footage will be good to ! No disappointment here.

Stern has been the only maker for some time, however Big Bang Bar was recently built by Pinball mfg inc, and medieval madness is set to be rebuilt by a company in astralia. So it seems pinball is on the rise, but no one is trying to remake pinball2000. It may have been new an unique, but the buyers seem to want something more traditional, the mid 90s machines are now the most coveted machines sold on ebay. If pinball is going to survive, and grow then games that can not be played on a PC is the only choice. Pin2000 seemes to me to be a transition from mechanical pinball to virtual pinball. I hope pinball does have a future.

Nice interview Greg. Can’t wait to see the Video. I would like to say that maybe in few months we will see pinball take off. We have about Three new pinball manufactures which are in production. Lincoln has already covered one. We also have the Pinball Factory buying all the rights to Pinball 2000 and to remake Williams and Bally games. We will have to wait and see. We also have Zizzle coming out in few months with two pinball machine. There design with kids in mind and will help from John Popadiuk a great Williams Designer and the designer of the second Pinball 2000 game Star Wars Episode 1. This will lunch a new chapter in pinball. There first game that will be coming out Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Man’s Chest. There second game are Marvel Heroes & Villains features classic Marvel characters Hulk, Spiderman, Wolverine, Thing and Storm fighting it out against Green Goblin, Mystique, Dr Doom, Magneto and Venom. We will see them in the stores this fall. I see pinball on kids mind this Christmas season when these games are at Toys-R-us and Walmart. These games will give a real feel for the game to say the young kids but also to the Moms and Dads. The Future of pinball players. I see pinball getting a replay credit very soon.
