MENLO PARK, July 31, 2006 (PodTech News) — In the market for a computer, but don’t need the latest, fastest, and newest? You may be able to find some bargains, thanks to Intel’s release last Thursday of a new generation of microprocessors. Chip-rival Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) slashed PC microprocessor prices a few days before Intel’s official announcement of the Core 2 Duo line. PodTech News talked with IDC semiconductor analyst Shane Rau about what kinds of microprocessor price wars consumers should expect in the coming months.
