But the depth of research practiced by the finalists is astonishing. The winner of the competition, Shivani Sud of Durham, N.C., says she will continue to develop her study of genomics and the prevention of recurring cancer. PodTech’s Jason Lopez prepared this podcast featuring all ten of the top finishers describing their projects.

The finalists presented their projects on Sunday March 9th and Monday the 10th in a public exhibit. The high school science projects cover areas like engineering, math, physics, medicine and health, environmental science, zoology, and others. The research these students have engaged in is astonishing. Many projects will result in innovations, inventions, new treatments, and further research as students move on to college and into careers. Forty finalists from high schools around the U.S. will attend the 6-day event where as ten winners will be announced.
