The Reboot: Xbox 360 Blu-Ray in the Works?

A new Xbox 360 Blu-Ray rumor is circulating around the Web. Chinese newspaper Economic Daily News claims a subsidiary of computer hardware firm Asus has been chosen by Microsoft to produce internal Blu-Ray players for the Xbox 360. Also in this episode of http://www.rebootshow.com The Reboot with Rio Pesino, the Grand Theft Auto sales war between Sony and Microsoft rages on, fans of the PC version of EA Sports’ Madden series get left out in the cold for the second straight year and a pole dancing game may soon be coming to the Nintendo Wii.

The Reboot: Grand Theft Auto IV Launch Party

Videogame chain Game Crazy held a number of Extreme GTA Experience Parties to celebrate the launch of one of the most anticipated games for 2008, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV. GTA IV has received rave reviews from just about every video game Web site out there, including Gamespot, Gametrailers and IGN. The Reboot’s Rio Pesino was at one of Game Crazy’s GTA IV Launch Parties, where hundreds of gamers waited until midnight to purchase their copy of the game.

Kratos makes his debut on the Playstation Portable in God of War: Chains of Olympus. The game is a prequel to the first God of War, which was one of the best games ever to come out on the Playstation 2. Fans of the God of War series and PSP owners have been looking forward to this game ever since developer Ready at Dawn Studios announced that it would come out for the handheld system. The buzz surrounding Chains of Olympus was so big that Sony even unveiled a God of War PSP bundle before the game was released. But does it live up to the hype? The Reboot: Sonic Unleashed

In this episode of The Reboot, Sonic the Hedgehog fans went nuts after several screenshots and a video trailer of the blue-haired hero’s latest adventure, Sonic Unleashed, were leaked online. SEGA Europe later confirmed that the game will come out this year. In other gaming news, Sony and Harmonix were hit with lawsuits this week and a Super Famicom console signed by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto fetches thousands of dollars on Ebay.

The Reboot: Capcom Digital Day

Downloadable games were the focus of Capcom’s Digital Day. During the press-only event, Capcom did not talk about Street Fighter IV or Resident Evil 5. Instead, the game developer showed off an updated version of and several other games that will soon be available on Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network. The Reboot: The Death of the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player

Microsoft has officially discontinued production of its Xbox 360 external HD-DVD player. The decision comes days after consumer electronics giant Toshiba announced that it will no longer produce HD-DVD products, essentially ending the HD-format war with Sony’s Blu-Ray. Video game juggernaut Electronic Arts wants to take over Take-Two Interactive and Sony’s Phil Harrison calls it quits. Those stories and more on this episode of The Reboot with Rio Pesino.

The Reboot/GDC 2008: Video Games Live - Metroid

Video Games Live was in San Francisco, CA, offering full-symphony-orchestra treatments of some of the most popular video games. The Reboot: CES 2008

The Consumer Electronics Show usually isn’t a big show for gamers, but this year’s event was expected to be different. CES dedicated more show floor space for its Gaming Showcase and there were even rumors that Microsoft’s Bill Gates would reveal a new version of the Xbox 360 at the event. Instead, gamers who attended CES were disappointed with no announcement of a new 360 and a Gaming Showcase that was lacking in video games. However, there were some major gaming annoucements made at CES. Sony used the event to promote new Playstation Portable applications and show off its most creative game yet, while Microsoft unveiled several new Games for Windows, including Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures and Space Siege. Texas Instruments also showed off its DualView technology, which could change the face of gaming forever. In this episode of The Reboot, host Rio Pesino gives you his take on what stood out at CES.

CES 2008 Recap: Microsoft adds ABC and MGM to Xbox Live

Rumors were circulating that Microsoft’s Bill Gates would unveil a new version of the Xbox 360 during his final keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show, but that wasn’t the case. Instead, Gates and Robbie Bach, the president of Microsoft’s entertainment and devices division, announced a new deal with Disney/ABC and MGM to bring new content to Xbox Live. MGM movies expected to become available on XBL include The Terminator, Platoon, Silence Of The Lambs, and Rain Man. Disney-ABC is expected to add popular shows such as High School Musical, Lost, and Desperate Housewives to the service. In this episode of The Reboot, Gates and Bach reveal the increasing popularity of the Xbox and also rock on with Velvet Revolver’s guitarist Slash on Guitar Hero.

CES 2008: Play, Create and Share with Sony’s LittleBigPlanet

LittleBigPlanet is a unique side-scroller that allows users to play the game, create their own characters and design playable levels to share with others online.
