PALO ALTO, October 12, 2007 - Former Vice President Al Gore, who was named co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize earlier today, said at a brief press conference at the Alliance for Climate Protection he hopes the award will raise global consciousness about climate change. Gore shares the peace award with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a global network of scientists. The former Vice President pledged to donate all of his share of the $1.5 million prize to the Palo Alto-based Alliance for Climate Protection, a bipartisan non-profit organization trying to change worldwide public opinion about the urgency of the climate crisis.
