During GM’s Electric Drive University in Newport Beach, Calif., I had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the new Chevy Equinox fuel cell prototype vehicle for a ride and drive with Brad Beauchamp. He’s a driver relationship manager for GM’s Project Driveway, and is a veritable wealth of information of the crossover hydrogen-fueled, electricity-powered SUV. A skeptic of hydrogen for vehicle power, I was amazed at how quiet the vehicle was and thoroughly enjoyed my time in the auto, and am warming to the idea of this as an alternative fuel for the future.
