John Markoff is the famous technology writer for the New York Times. I caught up with John at his office in San Francisco to talk about LSD, “The Next Counter Culture”, and his new book “What the Dormouse Said – How the 60’s Counter Culture Helped Shaped the Personal Computer Industry”. John is a real PRO and does a great job talking about his views on Silicon Valley.

I asked John: “What is the next big trend? What’s the next counter culture? “

John says:
“The intersection of p2p platforms, open api, and open source has just exploded – so its user generated content from the bottom up is obvious that it’s the next big thing…. this is an example of user generated content right now…. the thing that is valuable about my book is that there is a historical arrow that goes right from the things I wrote about - all those values and stuff - and it’s tracking directly to what’s going on today….
