GRUB: Bryant Terry’s Organic Soul Party

Bryant Terry, co-author of the book GRUB: Ideas for an Urban Organic Kitchen, and Jason Harvey, founder of Oakland Food Connection, teamed up recently to have a totally organic soul food brunch. Hanging out with food justice foodies as of late, we’ve been hearing a similar idea that to encourage folks to think about where their food comes from and who controls it, they have to have a taste of ‘real food’. Real food meaning local, sustainable, fresh, no pesticides, delicious, colorful, home grown and cheap. Yes, this food can be affordable, especially if we’re not paying extra for it to get shipped thousands of miles and for the medical bills we will incur because of the processes and chemicals that will eventually make us sick and over weight. Thanks Bryant and Jason for inviting us over!

Second Life, Real Life, Living Under Glass

Second Life designer Versu Richelieu (her avatar name) is living in a fishbowl: A Manhattan storefront. She’ll live there for 72 hours with no other way to communicate than her wireless laptop. Her challenge: to design an entire cityscape in Second Life in those 3 days. PodTech’s Michael Johnson caught up with Versu and Millions of Us CEO Reuben Steiger, just before she “sealed” herself in.

The cell chip is the heart, soul and brain of the Sony Playstation 3 game console. Cell is essentially a super-computer on a chip, and when PS3 comes out this fall, it’s going to take gaming to a whole new level. Mike Fister, President and CEO of Cadence Design Systems, and Jim Kahle, IBM Fellow with IBM Corporation and Director of Technology for the Austin-based Center for Cell Technology, talked with PodTech.net about the collaborative innovation that went into development of Cell.

Apple Computer’s Leopard Ready to Pounce

SAN FRANCISCO, August 7, 2006 (PodTech News) – Apple Computer’s CEO Steve Jobs ended his keynote speech at last year’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with the statement, “The soul of a Mac is its operating system, and we’re not standing still.” Jobs’ keynote speech at Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2006 at San Francisco’s Moscone West convention center did, in fact, focus on the next Mac operating system, code-named “Leopard”. PodTech’s Catherine Girardeau brings you highlights.

Supernova 2006: Soul Searching on Second Life: Philip Rosedale, Linden Lab
