Microsoft’s hypervisor-based server, “Hyper-V,” is part of the company’s offerings — along with presentation virtualization and application virtualization — aimed at helping companies to take full advantage of virtualization and quad-core technology. The server virtualization product, in conjunction with Intel’s VT hardware-assisted virtualization technology, provides simplified resource management to increase IT efficiency. In this podcast, Jeff Woolsey, senior program manager at Microsoft focused on Microsoft Virtualization, and Intel Microsoft Alliance Manager Joakim Lialias discuss the specific benefits of using Hyper-V technology with Intel’s VT virtualization.
Also check out Nick Triantos’s comments on Hyper-V, including thoughts on ease of installation and the details on Windows 2008 and Hyper-V’s minimum requirements, which Jeff Woolsey mentions in the podcast.
Hyper-V is available for download from Microsoft.
