This is a real treat. Stanford University’s Ian Hsu setup a tour for a fairly large group of photographers. We met Patience Young, who gave us a tour of the Rodin Statue Garden, Bernard Barryte who told us a story about the Burghers of Calais, and Gabe Hoffman and the rest of the hybrid systems lab crew who showed us their quadrotor helicopters. Add in Thomas Hawk and tons of other cool photographers who joined us for the tour and you’ll not just get a great tour of Stanford University from a unique perspective but you’ll learn some photography tips from Thomas as well.
Special thanks go to our photowalkers who contributed their photos to this video:

Photographers, don’t miss this one! It’s an interview with Thomas Hawk and Marc Levoy, Stanford University Professor, who is jointly appointed in computer science and electrical engineering. But that’s the geeky way of explaining this dude is doing some radical stuff with cameras. He shows us a camera that ...
We walk around with Flickr-famous photographer (he’s also CEO of competitor Zooomr) Thomas Hawk at the second Maker Faire. If you’ve never been to a Maker Faire, this is a good chance to get a look at some of what goes on there. Thousands of people who make things ...
What do you get when you throw a productive photographer into a show with 2,000 machines? Sheer chaos, that’s what. Oh, and some great photos! Come along for Half Moon Bay’s Dream Machines show, where you follow Thomas Hawk along for some of his photo shooting and get to ...
Chad Richard, CEO of Simple Star, tells me about his services that help photographers create stories for their friends and families. Great for people who want to use photos in a new way.
Kris Krug is one of our favorite photographers, he’s a photographer up in Vancouver, Canada. Here, he hosted a session on photography that I participated in and am sharing the video here.
Here, my sponsor, Seagate, releases a new product, Digital Audio Video Experience (or D.A.V.E) technology, while we walk around San Jose’s famous “Tech” Museum. What is DAVE? It’s a device that fits in your hand, or your pocket. Other devices talk to it through USB, BlueTooth, or WiFi ...
Heather Champ is one of our favorite photographers. Not only is she the community contact at Flickr, but she’s the co-founder of JPG Magazine. Here Thomas Hawk and I follow her around as she shows off how she makes unique images with Polaroid cameras. Neat stuff, although who ...
