Product naming insights from the guy who named “WiFi”

Edward Saenz, principal of Gravity Branding, has worked with tons of organizations and companies to come up with product names and marketing insights. He came up with the name “WiFi” and several of Nissan’s truck names, for instance. Here we visit him in his home office to get some insights into the rough and tumble world of product naming.

Sun Microsystems CEO: “We almost died”

Yesterday I sat down with Sun Microsystems‘ CEO, Jonathan Schwartz, and Tim Marsland, Sun’s CTO in charge of Solaris, and had a wide-ranging discussion from his pitch to Steve Jobs as to why Apple should include the Java runtimes on the new iPhone to Schwartz’ surviving a train wreck back in the 1980s and how that had a profound effect on his leadership skills.

Dabble for Video

Mary Hodder grants us a demo of Dabble, which is an internet video search engine of sorts, yet something beyond the usual search engines. Dabble self-labels itself as a place to ‘describe, discover and organize’ video, wherever it’s found. Dabble is the ’swiss army knife’ of internet video.
