CERN Tour: Beginnings of the Web
Friday, February 16th, 2007Ben Segal and Jean-Francois Groff give me a tour around CERN where we get a look at the computer that hosted the first Web service, visit Tim Berners-Lee’s office (the door was locked, unfortunately, but it’s still fun), and get a look at CERN’s computer center. Oh, don’t know who Ben is? Look his name up on Google. He pushed CERN to choose TCP/IP, which laid the groundwork for the Web to be invented there. Hear his stories about the early days of the Web and about the fantastic new machine at CERN that’ll look into the first billionths of seconds after the big bang.
