Photowalking with Thomas Hawk: the Photoshop Lessons, Part I
Jan Kabili, who does Photoshop Online TV, comes over to my house to teach Thomas Hawk a bunch of Adobe Photoshop tips and tricks. In Part I he gets schooled on Adobe Bridge, which is a great program to bring RAW images into your computer and do some basic pre-processing.

[…] ScobleShow (at least part I is, Part II will be up in a few minutes). This is actually not a “walking” one, but we sit down in my home office (Thomas says it’s my mansion, butreally isn’t) with Jan Kabili, who produces the excellent Photoshop Online TV and has written a ton ofbetter (the techniques discussed will work with pretty much any photo editing tool). If you’re using a digital SLR, this is one hour that’ll make your photo workflow a lot better. Filed under: blogging @ 6:36 pm # […]

Yay! I’ve been anxiously waiting for this one when it was mentioned way back on the first photowalk.

Hey, I bought my latest batch of photo stuff from B&H Photo, too. Great service!

The video didn’t really need Thomas. I would have rather enjoyed hearing what Jan had to say and teach more, and I didn’t really need to hear Thomas keep saying ‘yeah yeah’.
Why was the mic on Thomas and not on Jan?
You could have used his images as examples but he added nothing by being in the videos.

Hank, I think he added a lot. He’s an advanced photographer and demonstrated he didn’t know a lot of the basics. If he weren’t there we probably wouldn’t have been half as interesting.
Jan had a microphone on her. Maybe it wasn’t mixed as well as it could have been, sorry about that.
What kind of speaker system do you have? I have a $60 one and she sounds just great.

Bridge looks pretty powerful, and I agree with your comments above regarding the fact that although Thomas is a pro when it comes to shooting he’s about my level with photoshop etc … There is hope for us all

Why the jump in the middle? We were just getting into the meat of raw processing when it skipped to fixing the eye.

[…] Robert Scoble, producer of The Scoble Show, has posted Part 1 and Part II of the Photoshop lessons I recently gave photographer Thomas Hawk at Scoble’s house in Half Moon Bay. These videos show how to apply some of the principles I’ve been teaching you here to Hawk’s photographs. We talk about shooting RAW, using Adobe Bridge with Photoshop, and some practical techniques for correcting photos in Photoshop. This is part of Scoble’s Photowalking series at Podtech. Other shows in this series feature Hawk shooting photographs on walks with Scoble in the Bay Area. There’s more on the Photoshop lesson adventure here and at Hawk’s blog. […]
