We got a group of geeks together, had a great chef come in and teach us how to cook, handed out some wine, and kicked off an interesting conversation. Come on along for a San Francisco geek dinner.

Geeks involved are: Barney Pell, CEO, Powerset; Mary Hodder, CEO, Dabble; Henri Poole, founder/director, Civic Actions; Kathleen Lyman, CEO, LaunchMedia; Steve Gillmor. Our co-hosts were Robert Scoble and Fred Davis, co-founder of Wired Magazine. Videographers are Eddie Codel and Glenn Gullmes. Chef is Rozana Ogneva of www.AreYouBeingServedCatering.com. Our host is Jeannine Barnard. A second part of this dinner is coming tomorrow.

[…] Wanna see a bunch of tech geeks chow down and chew over some hot tech topics? Then check out the new Geek Dinner video that just went up on PodTech.net. Robert Scoble and I hosted the first of what we hope will be a series of Geek Dinners in San Francisco earlier this month. It’s part cooking show, part roundtable discussion, part nerdfest. […]

After watching this, I couldn’t resist linking to a quiz I recently wrote for our users, “Do you eat Geek?”

    From the quiz:

If you eat with a geeky family, the odds are that you’ll find the children well on their way to being alpha geeks themselves. If a parent says that they should take smaller bites, it’s likely to be confused with bytes. Asking for a bit more may result in similar confusion, even resulting in bit robbing between siblings. If you want to chop carrots and ask for a board, beware. Don’t make them laugh, however, while you enjoy BlackBerry pie for dessert. They might bluesnarf out of their noses. Try and see if you can guess a few other geeky foods in this quiz.

I hope you get a chuckle!

Hey, good food, good company, and good conversation, what more could you ask for? I enjoyed watching it although I don’t think Jacques and Lydia have to worry for the moment.

One comment; I like sizzle as much as the next marketing person but you might want to hold the sizzle in future shows for the sake of the audio.

[…] OK, here is the second part of the Geek Dinner that Robert Scoble and I hosted earlier this month in San Francisco. In the first part we did some schmoozing (of course!) and got a cooking lesson where we learned how to prepare a delicious meal… now we sit down at the table for some wining, dining, and conversation. You can watch the video on PodTech. […]
