My friend, Shel Israel, and I visited the team that built the first U.S. Web Site at the Stanford Linear Accelerator. Here we have a fun discussion about those early days. Thanks to Bebo White who is one of those in this group discussion, for introducing us to the world of particle physics.

    A comment amd a question:
    This is at least as interesting as all the Web 2.0 stuff.
    The question - with intro: It is a long video. That is good because it has a lot of information, but it means that I cannot view it continuously. I need to be able to come back to where I was. Therefore I download it. Why does the video download at a measly 200 kb/s, whereas the click-to-play stuff comes to me at my full cable bw of 2 Mb/s?

    Albert: I’m not sure. It’s possible we’re paying a higher fee to Akamai for the Flash videos.

    I always feel that computer programmers lack the same kind of experimental instinct, as scientists. So it is always cool and refreshing to see scientists, who also meddle in computer programming.
