When they were demoing VISTA at PDC the very first year I remember thinking that as cocky as Apple was about their Tiger boasting (the signs at macworld that year said “Redmond, start your photocopiers…”) that they were actually valid in their complaints. The feature-by-feature rip off was so amazing, it’s hard to be at all impressed with any of what VISTA has enabled. The font treatments that have that reflection, 3D video, etc. etc…it’s all been standard with Apple’s iLife and iWork (Keynote and Pages applications) from Day 1. I’m sure ER will have a fine time wow-ing Creative Services groups within corporations that are still forbidden to use Mac’s (like Financial Svcs, Insurance and Health Care companies) but for creative pro’s who have platform choices, Apple and Adobe are at least 10 years ahead in these arenas. And WPF just can’t compare to Core Image in terms of processing power. It’s just not that new, stable or even fresh.
