Robert,

Very interesting interview, amazing the type of digital photo techniques they're doing research on.

BTW, I also like this technique where we get to see you and your camera equipment.

Great interview - interesting to see the different projects Marc levoy is involved in - and how it's applicable to so many different fields (the uses in neuroscience, photography, archaeology etc).

These advancements in technology are just amazing. Being able to adjust the focus! of an image after its been taken is truely amazing. The future for digital imaging is going to be an exciting one. Excelent video!

[...] If you want to see where Photography Technology is headed, watch this (very long) video from the ScobleShow Marc Levoy, Stanford University Professor, who is jointly appointed in computer science and electrical engineering. But that’s the geeky way of explaining this dude is doing some radical stuff with cameras. He shows us a camera that can refocus the image AFTER you shoot it! Talks about other research to stitch images together, digitize statues, among many others. [...]

Thanks a BILLION, Robert! I have been looking for this focusing-after-the-fact camera for almost two years after I saw an interview with the student developer(s) somewhere online. Try finding this thing on Google using the terms 'camera' and 'focus' or 'DoF' together in any search and you'll discover just how hard it is to wade through the results to find an obscure project like this. I'm a Google search master - I can't remember the last time I was unable to find what I was looking using their service. But, not knowing more specific details, I was forced to give up. I've wondered about it quite often since then, fascinated by what I saw in that interview so long ago. I'm NOT KIDDING, just last night I said to myself, "I'll never find or see that camera again." Last night! And here I am, this morning, staring it in the face. YES! Thanks, man, now I can research my heart out...and if we ever meet again, I owe you a big dinner and a fine drink.
